Manuela Thiess Garcia has worked in theatre, film and television, as well as a teacher in various schools and settings, but her main interests are photography, art, and poetry, and she has had numerous local exhibits of her photography.

Manuela is the daughter of the actress Ursula Thiess and German film producer, Georg Otto Thiess, as well as the stepdaughter of the actor Robert Taylor. 

She taught in the California Department of Corrections for 15 years where she did numerous art projects with her students. In addition, she has taught at a juvenile hall as well as two Monterey county Colleges. She has also worked as a suicide prevention counselor, and as such, holds a Human Services Credential. Her B.A is in Liberal Studies, and her M.A. is in TESOL.

She moved to Mexico in 2008 with her husband - Gustavo Garcia, an optometrist, artist, and motorcycle enthusiast.

She and her husband share their home with three dogs, three cats, four turtles, and some aquarium fish.
